Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitar player and music artist. She was the first woman of her generation to be a member of the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka shankar is one of the rising stars of India's sitar. She's a child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. Her childhood years were spent in London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was at New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Then she relocated in Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. While she's still young Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording record. Since a while, she has been performing regularly with her father. She released her first solo album Anourag in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. Since she's performed at many of the biggest stages around across the globe, she's career on stage is extensive. Anoushka Shankar's career is not restricted to just the music industry. In 2003, she appeared as a character in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka Shakar's career as a professional will only continue to grow and expand. The tour included appearances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concerts and performing alongside George Harrison. She was the youngest woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musicianship within performing in the Asian Arts.
